I’m a Brevard native and experienced physical therapist with over 30 years of clinical practice. After earning my Bachelor of Science from UNC Chapel Hill, I completed my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Shenandoah University. My career has taken me across the country-relocating often due to my husband’s military service-before ultimately bringing us back home to Western North Carolina, where we now live on our multigenerational family farm.
I hold advanced certification in vestibular rehabilitation (CCVR) and specialize in treating dizziness, balance disorders, and post-concussion symptoms. Earlier in my career, I spent several years working with patients recovering from complex neurological conditions. I’m grateful to return to those roots through my current work in vestibular and post-concussion rehabilitation. That foundation continues to shape my care philosophy—combining clinical expertise, individualized treatment, and a deep respect for the challenges my patients face.
At Whitmire Physical Therapy, I specialize in diagnosing and treating the root causes of dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and post-concussion symptoms. I offer a level of assessment and care that goes beyond the standard approach.
Vestibular conditions are complex. Effective treatment begins with a deep understanding of the three sensory systems that control balance:
I conduct a comprehensive, head-to-toe assessment that examines how these systems are working together—or compensating improperly. This allows me to pinpoint the source of symptoms and personalize treatment for optimal results.
Vestibular rehab is not one-size-fits-all. My CCVR certification (Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation) is a nationally recognized advanced credential that ensures I bring evidence-based, precise, and efficient care to every patient. Here, your care is rooted in advanced clinical reasoning, objective testing, and minimal-visit, high-value treatment strategies. I also provide remote monitoring and tailored home programs to support your recovery between visits.
Whether your dizziness is sudden, longstanding, or tied to a concussion or medical condition, you're not alone—and you're not stuck. Let’s get you back to living with confidence, clarity, and balance.
Your visit will include:
✅ A detailed discussion of your symptoms and medical history
✅ Eye movement testing (to check how your eyes track, focus, and stabilize)
✅ Balance testing in different conditions (like eyes closed, standing on soft surfaces, or moving)
✅ Walking and posture assessment to spot any changes or imbalances
✅ Testing for BPPV (a common cause of vertigo triggered by head position)
✅ Vision screening using tools to assess how your eyes work together
✅ Testing how well your body senses movement and joint position (proprioception)
✅ Clear education about your condition and how your balance systems (inner ear, vision, and body awareness) work together
At Whitmire Physical Therapy, I aim to make high-quality care accessible while maintaining the flexibility to offer the services you need:
Detailed receipts provided upon request for those seeking reimbursement from insurance. Please contact your insurance provider before your visit to confirm reimbursement options.
